Bespoke staircases in Sedgley
Open Riser Staircases across Sedgley tends to be driven by the condition of what is already there. Because the area is mainly Victorian industrial terraces, interwar municipal estates and large commercial frontages, no two openings measure quite the same. The weather does the rest: urban heat retention with high particulate load here, and surface soiling accelerating coating failure on street-facing elevations as the predictable result. Everything we do here comes back to open treads that still satisfy the 100mm sphere rule under Part K.
A surveyor visits first and records the real dimensions, at several points on each opening. Give us the basics and you will have a written figure, not a range that moves later.
A local consideration we always raise: dense commercial stock means shopfront and contract joinery volumes are high.

Learn more →Rise, going and headroom in Sedgley
Three numbers decide whether a staircase is comfortable or awkward, and they are the first things we measure.
Rise
Maximum 220mm per step for a private stair under Part K. Consistent to within 5mm across the whole flight, because the foot notices what the eye does not.
Going
Minimum 220mm. Rise and going together must satisfy the pitch rule, which is why a flight cannot simply be shortened to fit a smaller opening.
Headroom
2m measured vertically from the pitch line. This is the constraint that most often forces a winder instead of a straight flight.
What clients tell us
Feedback collected directly from completed projects. Full written references are available on request before you commit.
“The headroom was tight and they redesigned the winder rather than telling us it could not be done.”
Verified client, West Midlands“Dry-assembled in the workshop first, so installation day was genuinely uneventful.”
Verified client, West Midlands“No squeaks at all a year on, which was the whole reason we replaced the old one.”

What guarantee do you provide?
Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.
Can you price from drawings?
Yes. Send a drawing set or a schedule and we will price against it. If anything is ambiguous we will query it before quoting rather than assume and reprice later.
Do you fit, or supply only?
Both. Supply-only is common for trade and contractor clients. For private clients we usually recommend supply and fit, because responsibility for the fit and the finish then sits in one place.
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes, we deliver across England, Wales and Scotland. Delivery is priced into the quotation so there is no separate charge added later.
Is the timber certified?
All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.
