Bespoke staircases in Sutton Coldfield
We take a fair volume of Staircase Parts work across Sutton Coldfield, and almost none of it repeats. You will find mostly Victorian industrial terraces, interwar municipal estates and large commercial frontages in this area, and it moves as it ages. Then there is urban heat retention with high particulate load, which reliably produces surface soiling accelerating coating failure on street-facing elevations given enough seasons. Our focus on this is matched components for anyone doing their own installation.
Manufacture only starts once the survey figures are agreed with you in writing. Send what you have, even if it is only a phone photo, and we will take it from there.
Bear in mind for this area: dense commercial stock means shopfront and contract joinery volumes are high.

Learn more →Rise, going and headroom in Sutton Coldfield
Three numbers decide whether a staircase is comfortable or awkward, and they are the first things we measure.
Rise
Maximum 220mm per step for a private stair under Part K. Consistent to within 5mm across the whole flight, because the foot notices what the eye does not.
Going
Minimum 220mm. Rise and going together must satisfy the pitch rule, which is why a flight cannot simply be shortened to fit a smaller opening.
Headroom
2m measured vertically from the pitch line. This is the constraint that most often forces a winder instead of a straight flight.
What clients tell us
Feedback collected directly from completed projects. Full written references are available on request before you commit.
“The headroom was tight and they redesigned the winder rather than telling us it could not be done.”
Verified client, West Midlands“Dry-assembled in the workshop first, so installation day was genuinely uneventful.”
Verified client, West Midlands“No squeaks at all a year on, which was the whole reason we replaced the old one.”

Can you price from drawings?
Yes. Send a drawing set or a schedule and we will price against it. If anything is ambiguous we will query it before quoting rather than assume and reprice later.
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes, we deliver across England, Wales and Scotland. Delivery is priced into the quotation so there is no separate charge added later.
Will the finish need maintaining?
A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
How do you handle glazing?
Standard double glazed units for most work, and slim-cavity units where a conservation officer has restricted sightlines. Single glazing with putty lines is available where the consent requires it.
Can you work on a listed building?
Yes, and a significant share of our work is listed or conservation area. We can supply drawings and section details to support a listed building consent or planning application, though the consent itself remains the owner's responsibility.
