Bespoke staircases in Newport
Getting Staircase Parts right in Newport depends on detail that a price list cannot capture. Most of what we survey locally is medieval timber framing, Ironbridge industrial housing and border farmsteads, which is not built to any modern module. Add Welsh border rainfall with high sustained humidity to that and fungal decay in poorly ventilated frame cavities becomes the usual trigger for replacement. Everything we do here comes back to matched components for anyone doing their own installation.
Manufacture only starts once the survey figures are agreed with you in writing. Send what you have, even if it is only a phone photo, and we will take it from there.
One thing that catches people out here: one of the densest concentrations of listed timber-framed buildings in England.

Learn more →Rise, going and headroom in Newport
Three numbers decide whether a staircase is comfortable or awkward, and they are the first things we measure.
Rise
Maximum 220mm per step for a private stair under Part K. Consistent to within 5mm across the whole flight, because the foot notices what the eye does not.
Going
Minimum 220mm. Rise and going together must satisfy the pitch rule, which is why a flight cannot simply be shortened to fit a smaller opening.
Headroom
2m measured vertically from the pitch line. This is the constraint that most often forces a winder instead of a straight flight.
What clients tell us
Feedback collected directly from completed projects. Full written references are available on request before you commit.
“The headroom was tight and they redesigned the winder rather than telling us it could not be done.”
Verified client, Shropshire“Dry-assembled in the workshop first, so installation day was genuinely uneventful.”
Verified client, Shropshire“No squeaks at all a year on, which was the whole reason we replaced the old one.”

Can you work on a listed building?
Yes, and a significant share of our work is listed or conservation area. We can supply drawings and section details to support a listed building consent or planning application, though the consent itself remains the owner's responsibility.
Can you match an existing profile?
Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes, we deliver across England, Wales and Scotland. Delivery is priced into the quotation so there is no separate charge added later.
What guarantee do you provide?
Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.
How long does a typical order take?
Most made-to-size orders run six to ten weeks from survey to delivery. Conservation and heavily detailed work can take longer, and we confirm the lead time in writing at quotation rather than leaving it open.
