Bespoke staircases in Fleetwood
If you are looking at Handrails and Balustrades in Fleetwood, the timber is only half the decision. Because the area is mainly cotton-town terraces, Pennine stone cottages and Fylde coast resort stock, no two openings measure quite the same. What accelerates it is high rainfall inland and severe wind exposure on the Fylde coast, and wind-driven rain penetration at meeting rails and sill joints follows sooner than owners expect. Our focus on this is continuous handrails whose wreaths and volutes flow without a visible break.
The site visit comes first, because assumptions made in an office get paid for on site. We will price it properly in writing, and we will tell you if it is not worth doing.
A local consideration we always raise: coastal Fylde stock needs the same specification discipline as the South West.

Learn more →Rise, going and headroom in Fleetwood
Three numbers decide whether a staircase is comfortable or awkward, and they are the first things we measure.
Rise
Maximum 220mm per step for a private stair under Part K. Consistent to within 5mm across the whole flight, because the foot notices what the eye does not.
Going
Minimum 220mm. Rise and going together must satisfy the pitch rule, which is why a flight cannot simply be shortened to fit a smaller opening.
Headroom
2m measured vertically from the pitch line. This is the constraint that most often forces a winder instead of a straight flight.
What clients tell us
Feedback collected directly from completed projects. Full written references are available on request before you commit.
“The headroom was tight and they redesigned the winder rather than telling us it could not be done.”
Verified client, Lancashire“Dry-assembled in the workshop first, so installation day was genuinely uneventful.”
Verified client, Lancashire“No squeaks at all a year on, which was the whole reason we replaced the old one.”

How do you handle glazing?
Standard double glazed units for most work, and slim-cavity units where a conservation officer has restricted sightlines. Single glazing with putty lines is available where the consent requires it.
Can you work on a listed building?
Yes, and a significant share of our work is listed or conservation area. We can supply drawings and section details to support a listed building consent or planning application, though the consent itself remains the owner's responsibility.
Do you take a deposit?
Not before the measured survey. A deposit is only requested once the survey is complete and you have approved the final schedule and price.
What guarantee do you provide?
Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.
Do you fit, or supply only?
Both. Supply-only is common for trade and contractor clients. For private clients we usually recommend supply and fit, because responsibility for the fit and the finish then sits in one place.
