Bespoke staircases in Ledbury
Ask three firms about Cantilever Staircases in Ledbury and you will get three different answers. Around here it is black-and-white villages, cider-farm outbuildings and rural stone cottages, and that alone rules out anything bought by the pallet. Set against wet westerly weather and long damp winters, most joinery here eventually shows sustained wetting decay at ground-contact and threshold level. Our focus on this is the hidden steelwork that makes a floating tread genuinely safe.
The survey happens before manufacture, which is why our units fit without packing or trimming. Give us the basics and you will have a written figure, not a range that moves later.
Worth knowing locally: rural properties often need full frame renewal rather than piecemeal repair.

Learn more →Rise, going and headroom in Ledbury
Three numbers decide whether a staircase is comfortable or awkward, and they are the first things we measure.
Rise
Maximum 220mm per step for a private stair under Part K. Consistent to within 5mm across the whole flight, because the foot notices what the eye does not.
Going
Minimum 220mm. Rise and going together must satisfy the pitch rule, which is why a flight cannot simply be shortened to fit a smaller opening.
Headroom
2m measured vertically from the pitch line. This is the constraint that most often forces a winder instead of a straight flight.
What clients tell us
Feedback collected directly from completed projects. Full written references are available on request before you commit.
“The headroom was tight and they redesigned the winder rather than telling us it could not be done.”
Verified client, Herefordshire“Dry-assembled in the workshop first, so installation day was genuinely uneventful.”
Verified client, Herefordshire“No squeaks at all a year on, which was the whole reason we replaced the old one.”

How long does a typical order take?
Most made-to-size orders run six to ten weeks from survey to delivery. Conservation and heavily detailed work can take longer, and we confirm the lead time in writing at quotation rather than leaving it open.
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes, we deliver across England, Wales and Scotland. Delivery is priced into the quotation so there is no separate charge added later.
Can you work on a listed building?
Yes, and a significant share of our work is listed or conservation area. We can supply drawings and section details to support a listed building consent or planning application, though the consent itself remains the owner's responsibility.
Do you fit, or supply only?
Both. Supply-only is common for trade and contractor clients. For private clients we usually recommend supply and fit, because responsibility for the fit and the finish then sits in one place.
Do you work in hardwood or softwood?
Both. Engineered hardwood is the default where movement or exposure is a concern, and slow-grown softwood is often the better value choice for painted work in sheltered positions. We will tell you which we would specify and why.
