Bespoke staircases in Blandford Forum
If you are looking at Cut String Staircases in Blandford Forum, the timber is only half the decision. Around here it is Purbeck stone cottages, Victorian resort villas and thatched inland villages, and that alone rules out anything bought by the pallet. Add exposed Channel coast with intense salt and UV load to that and rapid finish failure and fixings corrosion within a few seasons on seafront stock becomes the usual trigger for replacement. In practice that means the cut string profile, where any inaccuracy shows immediately.
The measuring is done by the people responsible for the fit, which concentrates the mind. Ask us for a figure and you will get one, with the lead time stated alongside it.
One thing that catches people out here: Jurassic Coast properties need stainless fixings as standard, not an upgrade.

Learn more →Rise, going and headroom in Blandford Forum
Three numbers decide whether a staircase is comfortable or awkward, and they are the first things we measure.
Rise
Maximum 220mm per step for a private stair under Part K. Consistent to within 5mm across the whole flight, because the foot notices what the eye does not.
Going
Minimum 220mm. Rise and going together must satisfy the pitch rule, which is why a flight cannot simply be shortened to fit a smaller opening.
Headroom
2m measured vertically from the pitch line. This is the constraint that most often forces a winder instead of a straight flight.
What clients tell us
Feedback collected directly from completed projects. Full written references are available on request before you commit.
“The headroom was tight and they redesigned the winder rather than telling us it could not be done.”
Verified client, Dorset“Dry-assembled in the workshop first, so installation day was genuinely uneventful.”
Verified client, Dorset“No squeaks at all a year on, which was the whole reason we replaced the old one.”
Verified client, DorsetBlandford Forum questions
Can you price from drawings?
Yes. Send a drawing set or a schedule and we will price against it. If anything is ambiguous we will query it before quoting rather than assume and reprice later.
Do you fit, or supply only?
Both. Supply-only is common for trade and contractor clients. For private clients we usually recommend supply and fit, because responsibility for the fit and the finish then sits in one place.
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes, we deliver across England, Wales and Scotland. Delivery is priced into the quotation so there is no separate charge added later.
Is the timber certified?
All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.
Will the finish need maintaining?
A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
