Bespoke staircases in Iver

The hard part of Staircase Parts in Iver is not the making, it is the measuring. Given the Chiltern brick-and-flint cottages alongside large modern estates that dominates locally, standard sizes are the exception not the rule. What accelerates it is chalk-valley damp with cold air pooling overnight, and persistent condensation staining and cill rot on older single-glazed units follows sooner than owners expect. The detail we will not compromise on is matched components for anyone doing their own installation.

We check on site before committing anything to the saw, and we query what does not add up. Tell us what you are working with and we will put a fixed figure in writing.

Local factor worth flagging early: AONB designation across much of the county tightens external alteration consent.

What we cover locally

Survey visits in Iver are usually booked within a week. There is no charge for the survey and no obligation to proceed.

Rise, going and headroom in Iver

Three numbers decide whether a staircase is comfortable or awkward, and they are the first things we measure.

Rise

Maximum 220mm per step for a private stair under Part K. Consistent to within 5mm across the whole flight, because the foot notices what the eye does not.

Going

Minimum 220mm. Rise and going together must satisfy the pitch rule, which is why a flight cannot simply be shortened to fit a smaller opening.

Headroom

2m measured vertically from the pitch line. This is the constraint that most often forces a winder instead of a straight flight.

What clients tell us

Feedback collected directly from completed projects. Full written references are available on request before you commit.

“The headroom was tight and they redesigned the winder rather than telling us it could not be done.”

Verified client, Buckinghamshire

“Dry-assembled in the workshop first, so installation day was genuinely uneventful.”

Verified client, Buckinghamshire

“No squeaks at all a year on, which was the whole reason we replaced the old one.”

Iver questions

Do you deliver nationwide?

Yes, we deliver across England, Wales and Scotland. Delivery is priced into the quotation so there is no separate charge added later.

Do you fit, or supply only?

Both. Supply-only is common for trade and contractor clients. For private clients we usually recommend supply and fit, because responsibility for the fit and the finish then sits in one place.

Can you price from drawings?

Yes. Send a drawing set or a schedule and we will price against it. If anything is ambiguous we will query it before quoting rather than assume and reprice later.

What guarantee do you provide?

Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.

What if the opening is out of square?

Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
