Open Riser Staircases across Greater London
Open Riser Staircases in Greater London rewards patience at the setting-out stage. The building stock is Victorian and Edwardian terraces, mansion blocks and post-war infill, so we expect variation before we ever pick up a tape. The weather does the rest: high pollution load and sheltered urban humidity here, and paint failure on south-facing sashes and rot at the bottom rail as the predictable result. Where we put the effort is open treads that still satisfy the 100mm sphere rule under Part K.
We survey before anything is cut, so the schedule reflects the opening as built rather than as drawn. Tell us the problem rather than the solution and we will advise on both.
A local consideration we always raise: large numbers of properties sit in conservation areas with like-for-like replacement conditions.

Frequently asked questions
Do you cover Greater London?
Yes. We cover the whole of Greater London including Croydon, Bromley, Ealing, Enfield and the surrounding villages. Large numbers of properties sit in conservation areas with like-for-like replacement conditions. Because high pollution load and sheltered urban humidity, we allow for it at survey stage rather than discovering it on the day.
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes, we deliver across England, Wales and Scotland. Delivery is priced into the quotation so there is no separate charge added later.
Do you work in hardwood or softwood?
Both. Engineered hardwood is the default where movement or exposure is a concern, and slow-grown softwood is often the better value choice for painted work in sheltered positions. We will tell you which we would specify and why.
What guarantee do you provide?
Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.
Will the finish need maintaining?
A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
