Loft Conversion Stairs across Northamptonshire
There is no standard version of Loft Conversion Stairs in Northamptonshire, which is rather the point. Given the ironstone cottages, boot-and-shoe terraces and new town expansion housing that dominates locally, standard sizes are the exception not the rule. Locally you are contending with dry inland conditions with limited coastal influence, so seasonal shrinkage and glazing bead loosening on older painted units is the fault we are called out to. Where we put the effort is fitting a compliant flight into an opening that barely allows one.
The survey happens before manufacture, which is why our units fit without packing or trimming. A quick call or a photograph of the opening is usually enough to get you a price.
Something particular to this area: ironstone reveals absorb water and hold it against frames in wet spells.

Frequently asked questions
Do you cover Northamptonshire?
Yes. We cover the whole of Northamptonshire including Northampton, Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough and the surrounding villages. Ironstone reveals absorb water and hold it against frames in wet spells. Because dry inland conditions with limited coastal influence, we allow for it at survey stage rather than discovering it on the day.
What guarantee do you provide?
Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.
How do you handle glazing?
Standard double glazed units for most work, and slim-cavity units where a conservation officer has restricted sightlines. Single glazing with putty lines is available where the consent requires it.
Can you price from drawings?
Yes. Send a drawing set or a schedule and we will price against it. If anything is ambiguous we will query it before quoting rather than assume and reprice later.
Do you work in hardwood or softwood?
Both. Engineered hardwood is the default where movement or exposure is a concern, and slow-grown softwood is often the better value choice for painted work in sheltered positions. We will tell you which we would specify and why.
