Handrails and Balustrades across Tyne and Wear
Half the Handrails and Balustrades problems we fix in Tyne and Wear started as a sizing assumption. Local property is overwhelmingly Tyneside flats, Georgian Grainger Town frontages and coastal terraces, which is why we never quote from a catalogue. Because of cold North Sea exposure with high sustained wind, we see wind-driven rain penetration and rapid coating loss on seaward elevations more often here than in most of the country. This is really a job about continuous handrails whose wreaths and volutes flow without a visible break.
The measuring is done by the people responsible for the fit, which concentrates the mind. Send us sizes and a photograph and we will come back with a fixed written price.
Local factor worth flagging early: Tyneside flat stock has a distinctive paired-door detail worth replicating exactly.

Frequently asked questions
Do you cover Tyne and Wear?
Yes. We cover the whole of Tyne and Wear including Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland, Gateshead, South Shields and the surrounding villages. Tyneside flat stock has a distinctive paired-door detail worth replicating exactly. Because cold North Sea exposure with high sustained wind, we allow for it at survey stage rather than discovering it on the day.
What if the opening is out of square?
Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
Do you work in hardwood or softwood?
Both. Engineered hardwood is the default where movement or exposure is a concern, and slow-grown softwood is often the better value choice for painted work in sheltered positions. We will tell you which we would specify and why.
Is the timber certified?
All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.
What guarantee do you provide?
Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.
